Britton Counseling believes it is a privilege to share a part of life’s journey with our clients. We always welcome new clients to our practice, so contact us today to start your new journey. We are licensed through Florida Department of Health for teletherapy, so you can rest assured all calls and voice mail messages are confidential.
Do you accept insurance?
To maintain your privacy and autonomy, we are out-of-network for all insurance plans. We will do courtesy billing for you upon request.
How do the video sessions work?
To better make counseling services available to those who need them, we offer online counseling. These sessions will be very similar to the in-person counseling we offer. Using the Telehealth by Simple Practice platform, you will talk to your counselor in a face-to-face video chat similar to Skype or other video conferencing platforms. You will experience the same benefits of in-person counseling with the added benefit of receiving these services in the comfort of your own home. You no longer have to worry about traffic or waiting rooms. Instead, we are happy to offer online counseling services to deliver you quality service where you are most comfortable.
Are the video therapy sessions you offer secure?
Yes, we utilize the Telehealth by Simple Practice platform which is secure, safe, and HIPAA compliant. Once on the site, you will be prompted to create a username and password and set up a personal profile.
What forms of payment are accepted?
You can conveniently pay with American Express, Cash, Check, Discover, Health Savings Account, Mastercard, or Visa.
Are the therapy sessions confidential?
Yes. The professional relationship between client and counselor is one of trust and mutual respect. Important treatment decisions should be made in this context without third party interference. Your sensitive personal information should remain confidential. Therefore, for your privacy, I am not under contract with insurance or managed care companies.
Are you licensed?
Beth Britton is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor, and Maria Wentz is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Ohio. You can verify these licenses at cswmft.ohio.gov.
How do I know if I have anxiety?
Anxiety looks different for everyone and there are many assessments available online at Psychology.com that you can take for free and use to seek insight about yourself. Generally, patients that have anxiety experience nervousness, an increased heart rate, sweating, feel tired or weak, and have trouble sleeping. This is not a complete list and anxiety varies for everyone. At Britton counseling, we can help you treat your anxiety.
How do I know if I have depression?
Depression looks different for everyone, but shares certain common traits. According to the American Psychiatric Association, depression is a persistent negative mood lasting for two weeks or more in addition to four or more of the following symptoms: sleep disturbances, lack of interest in activities you previously enjoyed, excessive or inappropriate guilt, decreased energy, difficulty concentrating or indecisiveness, changes in appetite, irritability, and suicidal thoughts. Depression interferes with personal, family, or work life and cannot be better explained by another medical condition (e.g. hypothyroidism) or substance use. At Britton counseling, we can both diagnosis and treat depression through a variety of counseling approaches.
What is the average price for a session?
At Britton Counseling, we believe that everyone should have access to quality counseling services. Our price per session is $125 payable at the time of your visit. Although our practice does not accept insurance, you may be eligible to receive partial reimbursement of your out-of-pocket costs through your insurance plan, if you choose our courtesy billing option.
I recently lost someone and I’m not sure what to do. Where is a good place to start?
Grieving is a process that differs for everyone. However, my recommendation is that when you feel comfortable, seek out a grief counselor such as Britton Counseling to help lessen the weight you are carrying. Many of my clients have benefited from grief and loss counseling. We offer a free 30-minute phone consultation so you can see if Britton Counseling would be a good fit for you during this difficult time. If we decide that I am able to help with your situation and you wish to schedule a regular appointment, we will do so. If not, I can provide you with referrals to other counselors who may be better suited to help with your particular situation.
Do you offer couples counseling?
Yes, in fact, it is one of our most popular services! We offer counseling for relationship concerns as well as marriage and couples counseling. At Britton Counseling, we use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you stop the negative cycling and create your strongest connection yet! Couples counseling is recommended for clients who are dealing with anger, fear, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in their relationship. You can expect your counselor to encourage you to look at your current emotional issues and help you learn to express these emotions in a way that will help you connect. You will learn new ways to listen and respond to emotional situations effectively.
Do you offer pregnancy and postpartum counseling?
Yes, at Britton Counseling, we specialize in pregnancy and postpartum counseling. We provide information and counseling to women who are pregnant or have already had their baby. We do not turn women away because their situation is complicated, we are here for you and your baby. It is our goal to provide you with the tools you need to help make the best decisions for you and your baby. We will offer on-going services for birth parents for as long as the support is beneficial. During a pregnancy session, we meet with you before your baby is born and will talk with you about the care your baby is likely to need and help you process any emotions. We always offer a judgement-free environment and our postpartum counseling is no exception. Counseling sessions are different for everyone, but typically in a postpartum session we talk about: your feelings, your beliefs, your behavior, your life right now, and your history. We will be with every step of the way offering caring and confidential treatment.
What is the difference between coaching and counseling?
Both coaches and counselors help clients achieve their goals. However, there are some clear distinctions between the two. As counselors, we are a support system for our clients. We create a safe supportive environment for you to explore who you are and what you want in life. Counselors also receive much more intensive training before we are ready to serve you and the community. Contact Britton Counseling today to receive safe, confidential, and caring counseling.
